Books I'm Reading

1. Everything's Illuminated - The story of a "hero" who attempts to find the woman who is responsible for saving his family during the Holocaust mixed with stories of his ancestors and the town where they originated.  Written poetically and passionately, with different voices (including that of his guide) combining to create a fascinating literary journey.
2. This Is Where I Leave You - When the patriarch of the family dies and his final wish is that his survivors sit shiva, the distanced family is forced to spend seven days reconnecting and (of course) dealing with long tense issues.  The narrator, Judd, has just lost both his job and his wife due to her sleeping with his boss and now he must face all his losses at once while also attempting to deflect the conflicts of his family.  Witty and humorous, while also making one think about their role in their own family and the hardships of their own life.
